Usage Description
This tool counts the number of significant figures in a given number. Significant figures are the digits in a number that contribute to its precision. Enter a number in the input field below, and click "Count Significant Figures" to determine the count.Rules for Significant Figures:
- All non-zero digits are significant.
- Zeros between non-zero digits are significant.
- Leading zeros are NOT significant.
- Trailing zeros in a number containing a decimal point ARE significant.
- Trailing zeros in a number NOT containing a decimal point are NOT significant.
- In scientific notation, all digits in the coefficient are significant.
